Seven (SEVEN!!!!) kids have met their AR goals already! They have chosen their rewards and are working toward their new goal! Many others are close to meeting their goal and looking forward to either $250 of classroom economy money, eating lunch in the classroom with two friends, or being 1st in line for a week. Keep up the good reading! Rough drafts are due this Thursday for the State Project! If you and your child hasn't starting thinking about the float yet, between now and Spring Break would be an excellent time to start! The float and final draft of the report is due a couple weeks after break. Have a great week everyone! Warmly, Leslie Fimon |

New jobs and new seats this week! It's going to be an exciting week! Next week I will be conferencing with each 4th grader about their State Projects. They do NOT need to have their rough draft done, but if they do, I will help them with some editing. They all seem pretty excited about this project, so thanks for all you're doing at home to make this project fun for them. You may have noticed the absence of Lit. Circle this week. We are going to take a break from it this month in order to focus on our AR goals. Your child should be reading at least 20 minutes each night (in place of the Lit. circle reading and job) to help them finish books Each book they finish, they will take the AR quiz, and earn points. 4th grade will be hosting Mass next week. Have a lovely week! Warmly, Leslie Fimon |

I've been hearing about a lot of work going into the State Project Packets (and even some rough drafts!). Remember, your child's State Project Packet is due tomorrow, Wednesday, February 22nd. Just a heads up, this week we are beginning to talk about the 5th commandment, Thou Shall not Kill. Inevitably someone asks about war or suicide. I will explain briefly, but will direct most questions about the later to you parents. Some parents like to decide on their own how in depth they get with the topic of suicide. Thanks for partnering with me on this. Any questions, please let me know. On another note, please continue to have your child bring his or her boots to school. The playground is terribly muddy and we have a carpeted classroom! :) Thanks! Warmly, Leslie Fimon |

We've been doing a lot of practice researching and writing in 4th grade. Your students should be experts on how to write a report now in preparation for their State Project! Many students are still in need of new notebooks for various subjects. Please check in with your child. Thanks for all you do! Have a great week! Warmly, Leslie Fimon |

Review States and Capitals The East quiz Tuesday Living in the East: New England Rural New England A Note from Me:
We have a big week this week! The East states and capitals (and location and postal code) quiz is on Wednesday! Your children have had a color coded map and some purple flash cards (yay for color coding!) for quite some time now. Just in case you want to double check, the states are Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont, New York, Maryland, and Connecticut. Spelling will not be graded, but I do have to be able to identify it. The school spelling bee is also tomorrow in the gym. Parents are welcome to attend. We also will have a chapter test on division on Friday. We've been working on these skills for weeks, so hopefully not much studying will be required. I hope you all had a nice three day weekend! Warmly, Leslie Fimon |
